Europe being the second smallest continent by surface and third highest populous continent holds a good number of airline services and their few major airlines have joined the list of the world’s largest airlines. Lufthansa group, Air France-KLM, Ryanair, Easyjet and International airlines are ranked top based on the number of passengers they carry.
Lufthansa:
Lufthansa, also known as Deutsche Lufthansa, a German airline is the largest airline in Europe based on the passengers carried by the airline and Lufthansa stays the largest when calculated based on the fleet size. Lufthansa takes rank four, in the list of the world’s largest airlines based on the passengers carried. The Lufthansa group holds more than 400 subsidiaries and associated companies. Lufthansa concentrates on the Passenger airlines, Logistics, maintenance repair overhaul, catering, IT services and other activities. Dusseldorf international airport, Frankfurt airport and Munich airport serve as the hubs for Lufthansa airlines, Germany.
Ryanair:
Ryanair is an Irish airline, which was established in the year 1984 and has its headquarters in Dublin airport and is one of the largest airlines in Europe. Aer Lingus was one of the major competitors of Ryanair on Irish routes.
Air France – KLM:
Air France – KLM, a French-Dutch airline is a merger between Air France and KLM, Netherlands. Air France – KLM offered flights to 225 destinations in the world in 2004 and recently they announced that their flights to Iran will be cancelled. Their fleet includes 600 flights from Fleet of Air France, Air France cargo, Fleet of KLM,KLM cargo, KLM City hopper, City Jet, HOP, Transavia.com,Transavia cargo and Martinair cargo including the cargo fleet.
Easy Jet:
Easy Jet airline Company Limited, one of the largest airlines of the United Kingdom, is a British airline at London Luton airport and is the second largest low cost airline in Europe followed by Ryanair.In 2013 the 100th route from Gatwick was launched and now the flights are being operated from London to Moscow. Gatwick, Milan Malpensa, London Luton, London Stansted and Bristol are the largest grounds for Easy Jet.
International Airlines Group:
The International Consolidated Airlines Group, formed in the year 2011 January, is the multinational airline at London, United Kingdom and International Airlines Group is a merger of British airways, United kingdom and Iberia, Spain. This is one of the largest airlines in Europe and also serves as the seventh largest airline in the world. IAG’s fleet consists of 350 aircraft and serves 200 destinations in the world.
